Corona Virus: Day 4?
I wake up for the last day of school before our 2 week "spring break." Due to DST, it is pitch black outside my bedroom window (first photo) and the moon is up over the highway. I take meds, listen to more bad news, wander to the front of the house to make coffee and breakfast.
What unfolds over the next 20 minutes is a spectacular purple and violet sunrise (second photo.) I sip coffee, eat leftover french fries, read Rilke and Pynchon.
The subway is running and people are going places. Everybody is trying to remain calm and nonchalant, because this is NYC, so we cool.
I contact owners of small home in the woods in upstate NY, and they offer 25% discount if I'll stay a week. I'll stay a month at that price, so I book it. I'm going away!
Lots of kids out of school, parents are worried. NewGal's school has a parent who was infected. I spend the morning playing with Zoom conferencing software; it's pretty cool.
Later I read email that the synagogue is closing for 3 weeks, no word on what they'll do for our spiritual needs.
I write a schedule to keep me from losing my mind.
