Day 659

Ma Mère

Ma is not well. She’s massively relieved that I have accepted this. I can see that it is as though she has been hit by a sledge hammer. She is totally exhausted and in pain. She can barely walk. She is not happy with anything about her. She saw M clipping at the creeper to keep it off the tiles and she said loudly, ‘Leaf by leaf. That’s the way. Leaf by leaf.’

This morning she said, ‘I thought I could just go on pretending that everything is alright. I can’t do that any more.’ Accepted.

I managed to get her a blood test this morning, brought forward from Monday. We shall see the doctor on Monday for a diagnosis. She might have Haemochromatosis. All the symptoms point in that direction. It is curable. She will be okay.
