Day 315

Newborn phase 9 weeks in

Little one has past his due date and has taken it as his right to act like the newborn he isn't, but technically is. He's feeding all the time, sleeping on me right after a feed but refuses to sleep in his basket, crying for no reason...
It' exhausting, and a little not fair. We've already been dealing with him for 9 weeks, getting to know him and his routine, why do we have to go back to square one?! We've already had to put in so much more effort than a lot of parents do, just to go through the same crap?!
Yes I know, I'm whinging. But I'm also so very tired and strung out. Husband has been at work the past 3 days - he works a few days a week but does stupidly long shifts - so I've been on my own with him through the days and then a night too because dad needs his sleep for work. Can't wait until tomorrow when I can hand him over whenever I need a break. Share this load!

If you can, try to sleep when your baby does and don't worry about anything other than the absolute essentials. I feel for you. xx

Thank you, George. I am finding when I get myself settled down I'm so wired it's difficult to sleep when he is, bit at least it's a rest xx

Be gentle with yourself. There is so much change going on for you, your baby and your husband. Try to make sure you eat plenty to keep you strength up: eating and sleeping - that's all that matters at the moment. I hope your husband can take your baby from you from time to time so that you can rest properly. A big hug. xx
