Day 94

Online dating sucks. I’ve tried it a couple of times and every time I get zero response from the men who intrigue me and the only men reaching out to me are way too old for me, way too young for me, or have profile pictures full of dead fish and guns.

I look at my own page and I don’t see why I’m so ignorable. I’m half tempted to make a fake account as a dude looking for women my age in my area to see what the “competition” looks like. I’ve got a few pics and I’ve been told repeatedly I’m attractive my whole life so I know I’m not ugly, I’ve got a not-too generic but not-too specific blurb... I’d date me. The only thing I can think of that is turning guys off is I the “PhD/PostDoc for my education. Are men really that intimidated by an educated woman? Should I leave it off? I figure it’s what I am and if a guy is going to be put off by it I shouldn’t get involved in the first place, but I’m seriously getting almost no interest. It’s disappointing.

I think the best way to handle online dating is to understand that 99% of the people online are either "too busy to date," scammers or just loosey goosey... so don't take it personally. It's basically something you should do in your spare time, and if you do meet someone, it was because of a random draw. I'm sure there are better ways to meet people, but this seems to be the one with the lowest barrier to entry....
