Day 69

Research Complete: It's simple: Raised with too much Empathy.

My family raised me with mostly Empathy and zero Arrogance. I've Google researched my mental challenges since Netscape. If you experience Arrogance as little as I have in life, you will live my life. Kindness, humor and Mother Theresa-like behavior goes a long way. But, a true healthy mind is equally skilled in empathy and arrogance. The mistake my parents made was teaching self-worth, arrogance and BOUNDARIES.

But, research does indicate these challenges are increased with an alcoholic parent, so...

Pat on my back for surviving the meanest people on the planet on my own, and learning that I come first.

Always.

How do you edit? My parents DID NOT teach self-worth, arrogance or boundaries at all.

I'm still new here but as far as I know, there is no way to edit your posts once they have been published.

You've done amazinglyn well to come out the other side not only with insight but no bitterness. In their mean way they have sabotaged themselves - they've given you a gift; the gift of empathy, healthy self worth and solid boundaries. You either become them or you rally against.
Sounds like you chose the latter x

EDIT: "The mistake my parents made was NOT teaching self-worth, arrogance and BOUNDARIES." I learned all (3) of these on my own. I would've never conceived of lying about my self worth in my life, but I have competed and dealt directly with numerous others in my career path whom have. It's shocking, extremely inhuman, and as dark of a lie anyone can use. Just knowing how low humans can go should be a 'Warning Class' for all of us. "Stabbing Others 101", "Not-Caring About Others 401", "I care so little about me that I hate you 501", "I will never achieve anything other than stealing what you do 301", and many many more believable and useful classes for your long career with HUMANS.
