Day 107

Saturday: Betrayal and Police Failure

I'd been with Honeybun all day. We were happy and shopping for our camping trip. Then he drove to work right after. In all that time, Honeybun hadn't been alone - only drank water. He tells his boss he will be taking next weekend off for our camping trip. Now, he has been taking quite a bit of time off the last month, but we were moving. The place is toxic, and he has been looking for a new job. His boss was pissed that he requested time off again. She started insulting him and his work ethic. She called the cops and told them he was drunk, because she knew he was fighting a DUI and wanted to hurt him. She said she "saw a bottle of liquor" - but conveniently couldn't find it for evidence. He begged the cops to breathalyze him, to prove his innocence, but they just hauled him off. The paperwork proves they didn't breathalyze or give a sobriety test. I didn't even know until 2 hours later, when I called his job because he wasn't home yet. She said she didn't have my number. Lies - He has me listed as his Emergency Contact.

Thanks, Rav. This is all so stupid. I called his job because he was late coming home, and his boss ranted on for 10 minutes about how he "stumbled in drunk" and that she saw him with a bottle of liquor. When I asked where the bottle was, she said she didn't know. Then she started rambling on how "I know he's been fighting this DUI, and I know how that is. You can't get a PI charge while fighting a DUI - he ruined his chances. I've known him since he was a kid and didn't want this to happen." I asked her why she didn't just fire him and send him home. "I didn't want him behind the wheel!" Okay, why didn't you call me to come get him? "I didn't have your number, Sweetie!" Bullshit. He gave her my number long ago, and I'm his emergency contact. No response. Then more rambling. It took me saying her name a dozen times before she'd let me tell her I needed to hang up - that I needed to go get him out. When I got him out he was heartbroken and pissed. I will be going by his job on my way home to pick up his things. I plan on just listening to her side while I grab his things, and leaving without saying anything. Maybe she'll be apologetic, maybe she'll stick by her story, but the cameras in the store wont lie, so I have nothing to say to her.
