Day 132

Slow Week

Even though I've been buzzing around the office like a supercharged bumblebee, and I've accomplished a lot, there is still so much on my list that needs to be done today. Some things have been pushed to the bottom of the list for not being as urgent, but I'm still staring at them with annoyance. Can my coworker /really/ not schedule his own haircuts? He has the time, since he's on Facebook all day... I try to schedule them months in advance, so I only have to do this 3 or so times a year (His cuts are monthly). I don't even know why I'm procrastinating on that task so much - it's not difficult or terribly time-consuming. I think I'm just annoyed by how menial it is. Time to pull up my big-girl pants and just get it done!

This week feels like it's crawling while I fly around in a panic over beginning-of-the-year tasks. They all have to be done by Friday.

At least the company is taking me on another 3-day vacation this year! I was worried it might not happen with how not-amazing the oil & gas field has been lately.

Otter, you sound like a very smart person and you have got good writing chops. You're young; I hope you can find a place where your skills are put to better use someday.

That's very kind of you to say, RavDiablo. I hope I can find a better position for myself as well. Writing is my favorite thing to do. I used to love writing fiction, but lately I've been leaning more toward exploring philosophy. The more I write out my thoughts and questions, the better I understand myself and my patterns. I'd love a job where I could use my ability to explain or teach things through writing, which is why I have been toying with the idea of technical writing. I need to start researching more to see if I'd enjoy it.

Technical writing is an excellent field, and so sorely needed! I'll bet you could find a way to dip your toe in and test the waters, especially in the age of the internet....
