Day 3

So, I missed college today ... again

It's been almost a month since I've been missing college, well, almost every day. The truth is, I can't even get out of bed, let alone get the energy to produce reports and scholarly articles (I do journalism). Today was one of those days, and honestly, I couldn't be worse. Everything about me screams depression and I need help. But I have a growing certainty that no one sees or really cares. I wonder, if one day I kill myself, what a fright they will take

College can be such a soul-draining place sometimes - so much work and anxiety. I've been there. Sometimes it almost felt pointless especially writing papers. But keep your face to the sun. :) College is the time for learning, self-exploration, and self-expression. It's a time to re-create yourself into whatever you want to be. Is journalism what you want to pursue? Or is it time to consider changing majors? I know switching can be a pain in the ass - but if journalism has become this draining, it may be better to switch to a major that you'd want to attend class for. :) I've known of people changing their majors as many as 4 times before graduation. As I said, it's a time of exploration. I hope you feel better soon! We're all here to listen, and if someone hasn't said it already: Welcome to Pencourage!

What Otter said; I also recommend you avail yourself of some of the therapy offered by the college health services. I went into therapy about 15 years ago after realizing that my issues were way too big to handle alone; I was very resistant, but as it became a regular part of my routine, it slowly worked. I became more insightful about myself, I learned how to confront problems and how to sort out what was important from what was not.

I expect that you have lots of friends, but you don't have a friend.

As RavDiablo said, you must get the help of the college health service.

Please report back that you have done so!!!!!
