Day 700

The impromptu dinner party....

Every once in a while I get the urge to cook for a large number of people, so the day before I send out a bunch of invites to random people. I tell them there will be food, drink, record spinning (I have a collection of about 300 vinyl records), and other hijinks, tell people NOT to send regrets if they can't come, and then make a lot of food and see who shows up.

And so they did: I made a Mexican seafood stew, tomatoey and flecked with garlic, onion, cilantro and acho chilies. There was a chicken mole made with a sauce which I had smuggled in from Mexico last July. There were chocolate chip cookies, warm out of the oven (made by NewGirl), and homemade corn tortillas (yeah, I can do that kind of thing....)

And the wine flowed freely and there was laughing and talking, and we played vinyl, talked art, politics, local issues, whatever....

.... and everybody left full of food, drink, tired and sleepy from a full night of being together and happy and vivacious and spirited and we joked and laughed and commiserated, and it was all delicious and engaging and delicious....
