Day 610

What's the use of being useless? Just Gotta' Vent Here...

I've had the same supervisor for the past 10 years and while I found her somewhat helpful in the past, I'm beginning the realize that she's not terribly useful.

Granted, she's got a lot on her plate, but honestly, the "help" she offers me is not at all "helpful." When I ask for help in dealing with one of her teachers (I do fine with the teachers in the other division, which is much larger...), I inevitably get, "Well, Rav, you know, sometimes you're a bit much to take...." and when I ask for specifics, she says, "well, why don't you ask the teachers?" and when I ask, "well, which teachers?" she replies, "I can't tell you their names."

Not helpful.

It doesn't help that she is totally compromised because she goes out with these teachers socially, even taking trips with them. So if there's an issue, she inevitably sympathizes with them, instead of acting as intermediary.

Luckily, this is not a large part of my work, but it's still annoying, because they suck up my time and offer little gratitude for what I offer them.

Seriously, if you're in a position where you're supposed to be useful, why not be useful?
