I'm just hurtin', hurtin' and hurtin'.....
Most of my days, in between all the work I want to accomplish, involves managing the never ending stream of pain I'm feeling in my right hip, leg and foot.
So I labor through my day: I drink my morning coffee and read Pynchon's "Against The Day," but I do so with my legs wrapped around the chair in a pain free position.
I try to bathe, but I can't stand for more than a minute or two, so showers are quick; I brush my teeth sitting on the edge of the tub.
I have a bar seat in the middle of my kitchen, so I sit while chopping, cooking and cleaning. I try to stand as much as I can, but after a minute or two, the pain is just too great.
Walking more than a block or two from my house means stopping every 100 steps or so to squat down and stretch out the muscles which have been seizing up.
One bright spot is that bicycle riding has been wonderful; it allows me to move my legs without any pressure, and I actually feel good afterwards.
So I take my steroids, massage my hip and shin, and wait for the pain to leave.
