My impressive Dad
Dad came out and greeted us on the steps as he always does. He looks very yellow now and his tummy sticks out and his ankles are swollen, otherwise he is quite thin - his face very gaunt. He made a sad picture, but his spirits remain wonderfully strong and positive. Ma and I were just saying together how amazing we find him - even now he is calm and steady in his morale. He said that the melanoma is killing him but they might be able to give him a bit more time if they can find a blockage which they can unblock on Monday... this is a slim consolation in truth. Real relief will come from the draining of his abdomen. He has put on 5 kilos in the last 7 days. Interestingly the Professor needs to give the go ahead for that which is not guaranteed which surprised me. He told Dad that it may all come back again in two weeks. But then it would need to be done again. I'm sure it will be done because poor Dad does look uncomfortable.
