We went to a sea side town one and a half hours from where we are. Beloved wasn’t happy which made me not happy. It was too touristy. After a desultory lunch by the sea, trying my best to conjure a more upbeat note we went inland. His spirits rose with the landscape. Once in the mountains and in an archaeological museum he was all smiles. We pressed on to a town called Margarites. Then it was my turn to smile. A town of pottery, perfect shapes and colours. We bought a slim plate the colour of the sea. Came home joyful and went quickly to our Asian supper. Diet went out the window. Ouch. But good. Again we sat by the water. This time in harmony. Makes all the difference. Drank and ate too much… but then we are on holiday.
